Jobsite 'Ivy Exec' says many companies are seeking MBAs for executive roles
Updated: Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009
After a slowdown in 2008 caused by the recession, business career prospects appear to be improving, which may be welcome news for those who are considering applying for an MBA program.
Ivy Exec, a jobsite for executives with MBAs and whose members hail from top business schools, has said clients from the entrepreneurial sector and investor backed start-up companies have stepped up their search for executive talent.
"In the past two months, we have seen a steady increase in hiring contracts," says Sharon Sauli, Ivy Exec's vice president of sales.
"While 2008 seemed to have been a candidate-screening year for most HR managers, these past few months suggest that leading companies are coming out of the hiring freeze and actively seeking executives," she adds.
Individuals who want to be prepared to compete for top executive jobs in the post-recession economy may consider enrolling in an MBA program to enhance their skills and networking opportunities.
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests the number of jobs for financial managers will grow by a healthy 13 percent until 2016, and the median annual salary is around $100,000.
