NASBA to hold an Expo event in San Antonio

Updated: Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

With increasing talk about an economic recovery and new business career prospects, a major accounting industry group is holding an event that will provide educational and networking opportunities for professionals in the field.

National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) has announced the dates for its upcoming 2009 National CPE Expo which will be held from September 21-23 in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to the networking opportunities, the event will also allow accounting, finance, public and private industry as well as government professionals to participate in sessions which will allow them to obtain up to 22 CPE credits necessary to maintain their CPA licensure.

"NASBA knows the accounting community is well-poised to handle the economic slowdown," says NASBA CEO David Costello.

"[It is]only fitting that San Antonio with its growing industries, solid [employment] numbers and affordable living costs [is] the host city for our inaugural National CPE Expo welcoming CPAs from across the country," he adds.

With this much optimism about business prospects in the coming years, this may be a good time to consider enrolling in a bachelors or masters programs in accounting or finance.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates demand for accountants is expected to grow by a very dynamic 18 percent during the decade of 2006-2016, and the top salaries in the field already exceed $94,050.
