Community college, university develop bachelors program in business

Updated: Monday, November 30th, 2009

Emporia State University and Butler Community College have announced a partnership to allow students to pursue bachelors programs in business, the Wichita Business Journal reports.

Butler students who complete associates programs in business administration or information technology will have the opportunity to earn a four-year degree from Emporia State University.

Students who participate in the program will be required to complete four semesters of coursework at Butler's El Dorado, Kansas, campus that will be equal to six semesters of study at Emporia State.

These classes, which are slated to begin next fall, will be held during evening and weekend hours to cater to nontraditional students.

Individuals who fulfill these requirements will be awarded a bachelors of science degree in business.

Emporia's bachelors program in business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools in Business, which gives its approval to fewer than 25 percent of similar programs nationwide, according to the school's website.

Associates and bachelors programs in business may prepare students to enroll in MBA programs that can launch their business careers.

PayScale.com, a research company, says that salaries for holders of bachelors degrees in business degrees range from $33,175 to $71,644, depending on the field, position and years of experience.
